About the role:
Our Hamilton campus has seen significant growth in student numbers, and we have identified an urgent need to bring on someone to work with our domestic and international student and campus teams, to ensure students are offered effective and timely pastoral care to support their wellbeing and success during their studies. This is a full-time role which consists of ensuring all students are provided with the required pastoral care and managing and completing the international student administration.

Why we created this role

Both domestic and international students often require additional support and advice to navigate through the challenges and barriers they may face outside of their studies, that impact their ability to successfully complete their qualification and/or gain sustainable employment.
To ensure all students are provided with the best level of support during their time at NZMA, we are looking for someone to fill the brand-new role of NZMA Administration and Student Support Coordinator. The individual in this position will report to the Campus Manager and will manage the day-to-day tasks of the International Sales Administration and ensure compliance with all internal and external policies and procedures, including the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Ongoing individual support for international students is also a key component of this role and will include facilitating one-on-one meetings with all international students as well as ensuring adequate counselling and support services are accessible to all students.  
   What you’ll be doing in this role
 1.      Administration ·        
  
Verify and complete all required documentation for international students and assist them with variation and changes to visa if required

 ·      Monitor and report on International student attendance as requested by the Campus Manager
·     Provide support as required to the international sales administration team ·     
   
Develop and maintain strong links with external support agencies
·       
  
Assist international students with completion of forms, paperwork etc as required 
·       Manage and direct induction / orientation programmes for international students    
2.      Student Support
·         Hold individual monthly check-in sessions with all international students to identify potential challenges and/or required support
·         Support both domestic and international students through difficult personal problems and refer to relevant external agencies when required ·         Refer student issues and questions to relevant staff where required
·         Develop and maintain ongoing support groups relevant to our student demographic
·         Conduct mediation and restorative practices between student and staff or student and student when required
·         Be available for off-site support for domestic students such as court hearings, support service appointments etc.
·         Ensure all services are accessible and appropriate for ethnicities within the campus community
·         Actively contribute to a positive and supportive environment for all students
·         Act as emergency contact for any international student concerns  
3.      Team Support
·         Actively participate as a fully contributing member of the Campus team, working closely with tutors and Head’s of Faculty in the provision of student support
·         Monitor and support tutors with student absences as required
·         Support tutors to work with all students’ pastoral care needs and actively ensure that seamless and effective support is provided to all students ·         Evaluate student performance, behaviour and social development and report to Campus Manager and Head of Faculty
·         Contribute and prepare information for reporting purposes as requested and required by the Campus Manager
  4.      Compliance
·         Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies and procedures, including the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students
·         Monitor international student attendance and develop and implement strategies to manage this
·         Monitor international student Visa’s and ensure immigration policies are being adhered to
·         Run monthly Code of Practice meetings for international students  

What success will look like

·         Effective and timely pastoral care support is offered to all students
·         Student retention meets the target of 90%
·         International student attendance meets the target of 90%
·         Student evaluation survey feedback on student support is above 95%
·         All internal and external policies are complied with
·         All international student documentation is completed accurately and within the required timeframes
·         Behaviour and team interaction is aligned to NZMA company values
