Activities Coordinator (Part Time – 20 hours p.w., 6 months Fixed Term with the potential to extend)

The Campbell Institute is the largest and longest running English language school in Wellington and Auckland.  Our Auckland campus is looking for a motivated and organised people person to take up the part time fixed term role of Activities Coordinator.

Based in our warm and friendly campus in Newmarket, the role of Activities Coordinator is responsible for successfully coordinating and facilitating engaging activities for our international students.

This is a relatively new offering to our Auckland students, so at this stage we are trialling its success for 6 months and if student uptake is good and our student numbers continue to grow at the campus (as they are currently) then the role has the potential to extend beyond the initial 6 months or even become a permanent position and the hours could also increase.

 Key Responsibilities:
·         Plan and facilitate activities for students in and around Auckland and the wider region/North Island
·         Ensure students are safely managed during, and in transit to and from, activities
·         Liaise with the Campus Manager in relation to timing, costs and other logistics
·         Provide printed and digital advertising for all planned activities to the Campus
·         Actively manage social media activity relating to the activities
·         Provide monthly summary of student numbers and payment information
·         Ensure appropriate monitoring and communication regimes are in place for all activities to meet Health and Safety requirements

Successful candidate:
·         An engaging and fun personality and the ability to provide students with enjoyable and valuable experiences that compliment their time studying English in New Zealand
·         Good initiative, planning and organisational skills and the ability to operate effectively unsupervised
·         Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
·         Be comfortable interacting with young people from a variety of cultures, for whom English is not their first language
·         Hold a valid First-Aid certificate
·         Responsible and understanding of the duty of care for our students
·         Be comfortable managing content on common social media platforms
·         Able to work some weekend hours relatively regularly.

Role Purpose: The role is responsible for successfully coordinating and facilitating activities for our international students that provide them with enjoyable and valuable experiences that complement their time studying English in New Zealand.   This role is 0.5FTE and includes the expectation that some hours will be undertaken during weekends.

Key Accountability

Planning
Objectives

·         Plan and coordinate activities for students, scheduled for outside of class hours including at least one activity per weekend
·         Liaise with Campus Director in relation to timing and other logistics

Communication

Objectives
·         Provide printed and digital advertising for all planned activities to the Campus at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date
·         Engage appropriately to advertise events through social media channels in coordination with Campus Director
·         Be present in person at relevant events on campus to promote activities as appropriate
·         Organise for photos and videos of activities to be recorded, for use in social media channels (manage permissions from students for such use) Actively manage social media activity in relation to activities being organised

Delivery

·         Lead at least one weekend activity per week
·        Lead at least 8 week day activities per month

Safety
Objectives
·         work with the Campus Director to ensure appropriate monitoring and communication regimes are in place for all activities to meet Health and Safety requirements, and the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice requirements
·         hold a valid First-Aid certificate
·         monitor students' needs and reporting any issues or concerns to an appropriate staff member
·         seek permissions for under 18-year-old students to attend
·         take a functioning phone on all activities

·         Administer any required monetary payments between students and activity suppliers or venues
·         Provide monthly summary of student numbers and payment information to Campus Manager
