This role is one of inspirational leadership of people, performance and academic outcomes. It is a role that combines team leadership and academic leadership; it is part of the wider leadership group and reports to the Regional Manager.  

The main area of focus is to develop and build staff performance capability in order to support student success and the achievement of defined outcomes across a specific portfolio of programmes, which may change from time to time.  

This position will support the development of teaching resources for the campus they manage and the provision of quality tutoring.   

The position provides and maintains a key link between NZMA and relevant stakeholders, with a particular focus on new trends, practices and standards. The Campus Manager role models industry expectations to staff and students, inspiring them to be the very best they can be, as they study in preparation for a successful career.  

Key Responsibilities
  • To effectively manage and/or assist in all aspects of the performance of the Campus.
  • Support the Regional Manager and Chief Executive - NZMA by contributing to the strategic direction of the campus
  • Lead the development and implementation of an annual business plan that covers all aspects of running a successful campus
  • Actively contribute as a member of the NZMA wider operations group
  • Assist the Student Services team in all aspects relating to supporting and growing student enrolments
  • Manage the performance of academic staff to ensure all aspects of performance is met or exceeded – the programmes allocated to the position may change from time to time.
  • Assume accountability for the academic achievements of all allocated academic programmes.  This includes the achievement of all EPI targets for those programmes.
  • Assume accountability for the progression/staircasing outcomes for all allocated programmes
  • Manage the performance and activities of the allocated programmes to ensure that ‘realistic workplace environments’ are provided and maintained wherever appropriate and practicalLead and manage all directly reporting staff members in conjunction with HRM policies, implement the NZMA Way effectively throughout the teamIdentify professional development needs for reporting teams and suggest how the identified needs are best met 
  • Work collaboratively with the other Campus Managers and Senior Leadership Team to support the overall business strategy
  • Lead the development of teaching resources and other course materials – liaising closely with the Academic Quality Team in this activity to ensure resources are relevant, effective and meet the Quality standards required
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.
  • Coordinate internal and external moderation processes for the Campus
  • Identify and make contact with relevant stakeholders to establish a strong network of NZMA industry partners
  • Provide effective student centred tuition to the standards required for the course 
  • Provide an environment which supports and enhances learning and skill development
  • Help ensure that students completing the course are ready for work. In addition to knowledge and technical skills this includes work ethics, understanding the requirements of employers within the relevant industry, interview skills, motivation, attitude, grooming, presentation and self confidence
  • Be engaged in the preparation of assessment and teaching materials
  • Learn and understand the NCEA system and goals, the NZQA processes and systems and NZMA’s academic policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with developments in tuition and related developments in industry
Module Quality and Reporting
  • Ensure student progress reports are completed on time
  • Review and address student feedback with particular focus to the quality of course delivery and development
  • Maintain full and complete records in accordance with company policy
  • Ensure that the records maintained meet the requirements of NZQA, funding providers, current privacy and freedom of information legislation 
Student Support
  • Act as a role model for students. Specifically behaviour, conduct, appearance, attitude and dress are of a standard generally acceptable in the training environment
  • Act as an ambassador for ACG and NZMA at all times and perform the duties of the position in accordance with the organisations core values and one behaviours.
  • Apply the NZMA student rules and Campus rules, equally to all students
  • Provide an effective and clear student induction programme
  • Host visitors to the Campus and arrange guest speakers
  • General networking internally and with external providers with a view to creating employment opportunities for NZMA students
Staff Support
  • Actively participate in the induction of new team members
  • Provide advice and guidance for staff development and organise or coordinate relevant educational visits
    • Be an active member of the Campus team.
    • Be an active member of the wider NZMA team participating in group activities and sharing resources, experiences and ideas with tutors from other academies
Evidence Records
  • Maintain inventory control of all assessment resources
  • Monitor the security of assessment material, through restricted access for staff and students
  • Coordinate resource requirements
  • Ensure all physical resource is well maintained in training areas
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are implemented and that other staff and student are aware of regulations and follow these

Person Specification:
  • Leadership experience within the education sector – people and performance – will be an advantage
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong self-management skills, and the ability to prioritise well and meet targets

  • Extensive experience within related roles, including a supervisory or managerial role for at least 3 years
  • Strong understanding of the NZ tertiary education system and the operating requirements for providers
  • Strong understanding of academic processes – both administration and learning processes
  • Exceptional ability to communicate effectively at all levels and an ability to develop strong and meaningful professional relationships.
  • Strong self-management skills – time management, well-organised, plans and implements tasks effectively and to agreed timelines 
  • Strong relationship development and management skills, coupled with the ability to achieve results through networks

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
